The Berkeley Nanotechnology Exchange (BNE) is an industrial affiliate membership program hosted by BNNI and operated in partnership between the University of California at Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

Industrial members of BNE receive a broad range of benefits, including:

  • Close contact with BNE faculty, staff scientists and students
  • Attendance at the annual BNE research review meeting
  • Access to the BNE student and post-doc Resume Book
  • One personalized Student Recruitment Session per year
  • Sponsorship of individual graduate students in specific research areas
  • Free advertising for student internships
  • Access to the Materials Marketplace (see below)


The Materials Marketplace is a comprehensive online database which provides Industrial Affiliates with access to a wide variety of novel nanomaterials and nanodevices developed at UCB and LBNL as research tools for the development of new products and technologies.
