The
Center of Integrated Nanomechanical Systems (COINS) is an interdisciplinary
home for research and education/outreach in nanomechanical systems
established by the National Science Foundation. We are an exceptional
team of scientists and engineers from four institutions: UC Berkeley,
Caltech, Stanford and UC Merced, interacting closely with partners
from national laboratories (Sandia and Lawrence Berkeley National
Labs) and from industry (HP, Nanosys, IBM, GE, Intel, Honeywell, and
ChevronTexaco). Our administrative host on the UC Berkeley campus
is the Berkeley Nanosciences and Nanoengineering Institute (BNNI).
Our multifaceted research focuses on molecular and nanoscale mechanics
at the interface of hard and soft matter.
NEW: Summer 2008 Undergraduate Research Internship applications are due by April 4th. Click here for more information!
