The Berkeley Nanosciences and Nanoengineering Institute is currently recruiting for two tenure track positions for the Fall of 2008. These positions are in nanoinformation and nanoscale science and engineering for energy. Copies of the ads are below.

Previous searches by the BNNI have resulted in the successful recruitment of Junqiao Wu and Seung-Wuk Lee.

University of California, Berkeley
Berkeley Nanosciences and Nanoengineering Institute (BNNI)
Junior Faculty Position
in Nanoscale Science and Engineering and Quantum
Information

The University of California, Berkeley solicits applications for a junior faculty position beginning in the Fall of 2008. Candidates are sought in the fields at the intersection of nanoscale science and engineering and quantum information science. Areas of consideration include nanostructured materials and/or devices for quantum information processing and communication, with emphasis either on experimental implementation or theoretical investigation. An integrated program of
theory and experiment would be of particular interest.
This faculty search will be conducted under the auspices of the Berkeley Nanosciences and Nanoengineering Institute (BNNI), with participation from the Departments of Physics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences, Materials Science and
Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate will have the potential to interact with scientists and engineers across a wide spectrum of disciplines, and to help develop the new interdisciplinary initiative in nanoscale science and engineering.
Instructions to applicants: Please submit your application electronically at:
http://bnni-intranet.berkeley.edu:80/sReg.php?i=6
Please provide the following as PDFs: a complete curriculum vitae, a selection of publication reprints (five or less), and a brief statement of future research plans and teaching interests. You should also contact at least three references and provide them with the unique URL created
specifically for those submitting letters on your behalf. This will be displayed near the top of your page once you have uploaded your files. UC Berkeley’s Statement of Confidentiality can be found at http://apo.chance.berkeley.edu/evalltr.html. You may also submit application materials by sending them to: Chair, NSE-Quantum Information Search, Berkeley Nanosciences and Nanoengineering Institute, University of California, Berkeley, 210 McLaughlin Hall #1726, Berkeley, CA 94720-1726. Our e-mail address is: bnni-searches@lists.berkeley.edu.
Full attention will be given to those applications received before Jan 15, 2008. The University of California is an Equal Opportunity/ Affirmative Action Employer.

University of California, Berkeley
Berkeley Nanosciences and Nanoengineering Institute (BNNI)
Assistant Professor Position in Nanoscale Science and Engineering and Energy

The University of California, Berkeley solicits applications for a tenure track position of Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall of 2008. Candidates are sought in the fields at the intersection of nanoscale science and engineering with implications for energy technology. Many of the fundamental length scales involved in energy conversion, transmission, and storage occur at the nanoscales. Therefore, nanoscale science and engineering provide the opportunity to discover and develop new processes and systems to cost-effectively convert, store, and transmit
energy that significantly reduces the atmospheric burden of greenhouse gases. Topics of interest include but are not limited to catalysis, surface adsorption, fuel synthesis and processing including biofuels, bioprocessing, thermoelectrics, fuel cells, batteries, photovoltaic cells, superconducting power transmission, clean coal conversion, nuclear power, etc.
