Research

UC Berkeley has over 90 faculty with active research programs in nanoscale science and engineering who are affiliated with the Berkeley Nanosciences and Nanoengineering Institute.

Many UC Berkeley faculty have banded together to form research centers in areas such as quantum information and computation, nanomechanical systems, nanoelectronics, nanomedicine, nanomanufacturing, and bionanotechnology. These centers often involve collaborations with industry, national labs, and other research universities.

A key enabler for UC Berkeley research is the shared facilities for micro- and nanoscale imaging, characterization, synthesis and fabrication.
